I just checked my credit report and found inquiries from 2 companies I've never heard of, much less ordered from: Midnight Velvet and Through the Country Door. They have the same address in Wisconsin, although with different phone numbers.

One of them has made 3 inquiries.

If there is not a law against this, there should be. I thought they had to have a reason for checking your credit. I plan to report this to the 3 Credit Agencies, tho I don't know what that will do.

And I'll check into other ways of keeping people and corporations out of my life.

I welcome any suggestions any of you may have.

And thanks for the reviews. These are good warnings.

Reason of review: I don't want them to contact me..

Location: Orlando, Florida

The same thing is happening to me. My credit report list 3 pages of companies checking my credit.

What constitutes such action? The report also includes a varation to my ssn. With id theft so prevelent today, advising consumers to secure our info while companies and credit reporting agencies give/sell it without hesitation. We the people are getting screwed...

Big time. And it continues to progress. Perhaps we should sell our id to the highest bidder.

Sooner or later some breach or company will pass it in to the hands of another. Who wants to start the bidding?

I just checked my credit and had the same thing! Midnight Velvet!

I don't understand why they are allowed to do this!?

I did some research and we definitely aren't alone. Tons of people have this same issue.
