I recently received two catalogs from this company, the 2nd being a "Pre-Selected Catalog and I was supposedly pre-approved for a $400 credit line, so I decided to order a pair of their $59 shoes. I waited patiently to hear from them and today I received a letter informing me that my credit was denied as, "we were unable to verify certain information in your credit line." I have credit with Masseys and Figis and neither of them refused me credit and I pay my bills with them on time.

Obviously, Midnight Velvet has a credit criteria of their own choosing and used their lame excuse for credit denial and of course they failed to inform me what it was they supposedly needed. I don't need to deal with companies like this one that spread false advertising all the while assuring you that you are approved for credit with them.

One of my sisters complained that their customer service falls way below the standard and that on more than one occasion their customer service treated her disrespectfully and she is one of their credit customers. So just as a warning, don't do business with Midnight Velvet because you are not a valued customer even if they do decide to give you credit.

LADIES!!! PREAPPROVED DOES NOT MEAN APPROVED.

FOR PETE'S SAKE, DON'T ORDER IF YOU CAN'T IMMEDIATELY PAY FOR YOUR ORDER WHEN YOU ARE BILLED JUST IN CASE YOUR CREDIT LINE DOESN'T GET APPROVED.

THERE ARE MANY COMPANIES THAT SEND CATALOGS WITH THIS COME-ON. FYI--I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH THESE CO'S AT ALL.

To Anonymous in Camdenton, Missouri: Some of us cannot afford to pay for an item in full and, as one of those income customers, I can appreciate any company who gives me a payment schedule. Some of us do not have the best credit either and a lot of times it is not our fault, as circumstances beyond our control can ruin our credit line.

I pay my bills on time and should not be subjected to a company like Midnight Velvet who gives the assumption that they are going to give credit. I do business with other companies who did "pre-approve" me like their ad suggested and they did not ask for a "down payment," before they approved my credit with them.

And, FYI, in my opinion, while you may not be directly connected with Black Velvet and I do have my doubts about that, you could very well be associated with one of those other companies who have bad and scrupulous business practices. We don't need to be reprimanded by folks like you, nor do we need you to try and educate us for our own personal opinions.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM BLACK VELVET AS YOU CAN THEY ARE A SCAM. when you call them to inquire about the Pre Approved credit line they become irritated.

They have to run a credit check and tell you rather you are approved or not. Then they proceed to ask you for down payment up front. The catalogs they are sending out is very misleading and should be a law against doing such false advertising. Every catalog is suppose to be the last one.

Any good business will not scam anyone to get their business their name speaks volume. SO BEWARE AND STAY AWAY.

I've had other companies who tell me that my credit is approved give me credit. This "pre-approved," word is ambiguous and is like the dating web sites on the web that tell you it is "free" to join.

The only thing free is that you get to look at other members when you join and once you try to see anyone's message to you, you are not allowed to see it unless you pay to be a member. In my book, this is false advertising. All they want is your money.

They don't care one way or another if you meet anyone. Midnight Velvet keeps sending me their catalogs threatening that "this is your last catalog," and, as usual telling me that I'm "pre-approved." I'll NEVER do business with them or any company that uses dirty, lying advertising to get try and get my business!!!

I'm glad you threw their catalog away!! I just received one again a couple of weeks ago.

I didn't even look at it and like you, it went right into the trash. I 've had companies like Masseys and Figis give me credit and they said I was "pre-approved," too.

Some of the companies who send "pre-approved," catalogs are not worthy of my business, because they use false advertising. In my book, the word pre means you have already been approved.

"Pre Selected" or "Pre Approved" means that you still have to have a credit check ran before they give you the credit. "Approved" or "Selected" means you have the credit without a credit check. The difference is "PRE" :eek
